Privacy
Runetell sets no cookies and uses no tracking or analytics. Privacy is one of the main pillars of our mission: Your personal data is never stored in a form readable by us and only kept in memory for as long as necessary to safely provide the services you requested.
What leaves your browser
- Searches and statistics: what you search for. With “Deck regions” checked, also the active deck's regions.
- The statistics of the deck panel and of online decks' pages: only the filter and what to count. Your browser counts the deck's cards itself.
-
Shared deck pages (
/deck/…): the deck code in the URL, which encodes the cards in your deck. - Online decks, if you put a deck online or open an online deck's link. See below.
Online decks
Decks are fully end-to-end encrypted, the server is never able to read them. This includes deck name, cards and notes. You own the keys to your data and share them via online deck links. Anyone with a link can open the deck: with the link to edit, also change and delete it. Share links only with people you want to have them.
The server stores the encrypted deck, its id, the day it was last used, and whether the deck has notes and roughly how long they are. An online deck is deleted 120 days after it was last used. Opening it or changing it counts as use, and so does visiting the site with the deck in your browser. Your browser keeps its own copy, so you can put an expired deck online again under the same links.
To delete an online deck you can edit, delete it in the deck panel. Decks belong to the people who made them, and since we do not store personal data that would identify deck ownership, we cannot usually delete decks based on request. We will however delete a deck that infringes your rights, for example because it holds your personal data without your consent, or that is otherwise unlawful. To report one, contact the site's operator with the deck's link and tell us why it should be removed. The link lets us see what the deck holds; we use it only to look into your report. We reply as soon as we can and tell you what we decided.
To use your online decks in your other browsers, you can create a library link. The library is stored like a deck: encrypted, it lists the links of your online decks, and the server learns only roughly how many there are. Opening its link in another browser syncs your online decks with it. A library is deleted 360 days after it was last used; each browser syncing with it uses it.
Your IP address
To prevent abuse of online deck storage, the server counts how much each IP address stores and reads, in memory only. The counts are never written down or logged, and are forgotten after a day at most.
